A Wedding Verse
On this page, there is a lovely wedding verse that talks about the familiar traditions of a wedding ceremony!
With a Kiss
The organ plays that famous tune,
We know the wedding's starting soon,
The groom comes down and takes his place,
We see the love upon his face.
Then the bride comes with her father,
He's just so proud of his daughter,
He gives her away to the groom,
And then steps back to give them room.
The vows we hear them soon recite,
They hold back tears with all their might,
And now wrapped up in wedded bliss,
They seal their marriage with a kiss!

My Aunt Loretta is a colorful character (we even call her Aunt Fancy Pants, because she literally wears gold lamé pants). She works for a popular women's magazine as an editor, and she has done quite a few stories about brides, wedding fashions and ceremony traditions.
Our family is pretty big, with so many aunts and cousins and nieces and nephews, so there tend to be a lot of weddings to attend every year.
Aunt Loretta once published a piece about why people enjoy weddings so much. The article boiled down the reasons to two main points: people love the familiar traditions of a wedding ceremony, and they feel filled with optimism for the future when they attend weddings.
Seeing a couple (new or old) happy and in love is simply inspiring for people. Of course, there are cynical types who would rather talk about divorce rates than to sit down and enjoy a lovely wedding. But for the most part, people just love weddings.
This poem captures all of the best things about a wedding - the traditions, the music and the wonderful romance of the occasion. I think it's a lovely wedding verse that can be used in many different ways!
