It is a very nice thing for someone to spend time picking out a wedding gift for your wedding. I can say from experience that it is not just a simple matter of choosing a gift, paying for it, wrapping it and then giving it at the wedding.
You really must think hard about what it is that the couple might want and what they might need (even if they have registered for gifts). You always hope that whatever you choose, they will find it useful, and that they will think of you when they use it.
With guests putting so much thought into your gift, it's important as the recipient to express your gratitude. Can you think of a better way to say "thank you" than by sending a nice, sweet poem that is fun to read? I can't either!
