A common theme of anniversaries is reflection, for it is the perfect opportunity to take some time to think about the previous year. Thinking about things in such a way - about the frustrations, the fun times, the exciting things and everything else - allows us to consider the choices we will make in the coming year, and to hopefully improve ourselves by doing so. In a marriage especially, it is so important to think about the areas in which we can improve, and to always work toward being the best spouse that we can be (the same holds true for boyfriends and girlfriends as well, of course!).
Every year on my anniversary, I like to take a few minutes to take stock of things. I consider my marriage carefully. How can I be a better wife to my husband? What can I do to keep romance aflame? What are the daily things that I can do to make my marriage even happier? By doing this, I think it really helps to keep things in perspective.
This poem was written about those kind of reflections, and it would be a fantastic little gift for a special couple who appreciates that sort of thing. There are many wedding anniversary verses to choose from, but this is a great one for thoughtful people.
