Lovely Year
My sweet and handsome husband,
How I love you so,
Every time I see your face,
My heart begins to glow.
It's been so long, and yet I find,
That our love fills my heart,
And so it will forever more,
As it has from the start.
Now it's our anniversary,
And I am filled with cheer,
For I can say quite happily,
It's been a lovely year!

An anniversary is a special time - there's no question about that. There are so many jokes made about spouses who forget their anniversaries - especially men. However, I think that a lot of men are just as romantic as women! I can proudly say that my husband has never forgotten our anniversary, and, in fact, he usually plans something very romantic! We traditionally like to keep our gifts simple, and I like to write poems for him to include in a homemade greeting card.
Making this kind of gesture really lets him know that I've put thought into our special day. This poem in particular is a wonderful poem for a husband on an anniversary, for it specifically addresses him and it is very lighthearted and yet still quite sentimental. Men do appreciate these things; I know my husband always smiles and expresses his appreciation when I write poems for him - especially romantic poems.
