I have been to many weddings throughout the years, and have given many gifts at those weddings. I always think it's such a nice touch when the couple promptly sends out a thank you card or message to guests.
Personally, it just makes me feel like my gift meant something special to the newlyweds, and that is a great feeling. I spend a lot of time choosing gifts and writing congratulatory cards or poems, so it is so nice when the recipient expresses his or her appreciation!
While I do love receiving regular greeting cards, I think I would enjoy a thank you poem even more! Cards are great, don't get me wrong - but poems are just so much fun to read, and I feel like they show just a touch more warmth and can be so much more personal than a general card.
I think this poem is very personable. I think it gets right to the heart of the reader and conveys a genuine sense of appreciation for not only the gift, but for the fact that the recipient attended the wedding as well.
