Poems For Wedding Invitations

Rhyming poems for wedding invitations will grab the reader's attention, but most importantly, they will make the recipient smile! This poem is a very sweet one and would be perfect to include in your wedding invitation.

Invite

Your attention is required,
And your presence is desired,
At our wedding day event,
So this invite now is sent!

The day will be just great,
So please mark down the date,
I would hate for you to miss,
Our most important wedding kiss!

And when I look back on the day,
I just hope that I can say,
How special you helped it to be,
Just by being there for me.

From childhood, we are taught to rhyme. We hear nursery rhymes, children's books written in rhyme and we even make up rhymes on the playground! There's just something about the rhythm of a rhyming poem that appeals to us. Perhaps it reminds of of those comforting nursery rhymes and stories that we read when we were children!

While there are many different kinds of rhyming poems and many different ways to write them, I prefer simple formats with three stanzas. It's just enough to tell a story, but not so lengthy that the reader will lose interest.

I write a lot of poems, and I think the two best forms are AABB (where the first and second lines rhyme, and then the third and fourth lines rhyme, too, like in this poem) and ABCB (where the second and fourth lines rhyme). Both formats make it so easy for the reader to quickly get into the "swing" of the poem's rhythm.

Whatever format you prefer, there are many wedding invitation poems to choose from online - or you could write your own! Poems for wedding invitations are a fantastic idea.
