Good Wedding Poems

Good wedding poems should be humorous or sweet, or both! This poem takes a cheery look at weddings, and even talks about the wedding rehearsal!

Get Hitched!

Rehearsals of a wedding,
Might seem to last all day,
But if you put the time in,
Then all will go your way.

What seems to be important,
Like where we all should stand,
Won't even be an issue,
When the real thing is at hand.

So when the big day comes,
These worries you'll have ditched,
Your wedding will be great,
So go on and just get hitched!

At the rehearsal for my wedding, I was very excited, and a little nervous, too. Michael, my husband (at the time, he was still my husband-to-be, of course), was the picture of confidence, although I think he was secretly a little nervous, too.

He was cracking jokes with the wedding party, charming my parents (as usual) and doing little magic tricks to amuse the children who were present. I remember watching him and thinking about how lucky I was to be marrying such a wonderful and charming man!

More than 10 years later, I still feel so happy and blessed. We've had our share of ups and downs, but the good days have far outnumbered the challenging ones, and I am a happy woman! It's so fun to look back on our wedding and think about the way we were then, and how far we have come in just ten years.

Writing and reading wedding poems makes me so nostalgic! This wedding poem reminds me so much of all of the pre-wedding excitement before our big day. I think good wedding poems are just so much fun to read!

Marriage Trials

We exchanged vows that wedding day,
We smiled we laughed and looked into each other’s eyes,
Forever we promised to live together,
To Love Honor and Cherish throughout the years,
How hard can it be to be married?

The first few months go by so fast,
So do good habits that we’ve learned,
I guess good things don’t always last,
Good times apparently need to be earned.

Hard times are past present and future,
We try to find our place,
But things prove to be complicated,
Is this marriage thing some kind of race?

Well we don’t run the same pattern,
Or to the same beating heart,
Our rhythmic melody beats close,
But not quite together to make one dose.

They say learning this trade takes time,
They say being married is something won,
You found your soul mate for life,
You found the one.

Even if life throws you a curve ball,
Just learn to dodge it like you did to meet each other,
Being married is a choice that you both made,
Take it seriously as you talk to one another.

Never forget to listen,
Never forget to learn,
And most importantly,
Never forget to LOVE.
