50 Wedding Anniversary Poem

The big 5-0! A 50 wedding anniversary poem can be written in many ways - lightheartedly, humorously, and, of course, sentimentally. The following poem encompasses all three of these categories!

Happy Anniversary

50 golden years together,
Many storms for you to weather,
Many inside jokes to share,
Many times to show you care.

50 years of fun and dances,
Many soft unspoken glances,
Many wrongs to make so right,
Many smiles that were so bright.

You have come so far, you two,
And I want to say to you,
"Happy Anniversary,"
For you have both inspired me!

It's almost intimidating to try and figure out how to congratulate a couple who has been married for 50 years. It's easy to admire them, and it's easy to respect their commitment to one another, but how do you express these emotions? What is the perfect way to convey your appreciation for their great milestone? How do you tell them that you're proud of them and that you realize what a great achievement a 50th anniversary is?

I think the answer is poetry. A simple rhyming poem can say so much in so few words, and there's just something special about a rhyming poem, because people instantly recognize what it is and are pleased by it. I guess you could say that a rhyming poem is kind of like a universal greeting card. However, not everyone can just whip up a poem to express themselves. Some people have trouble putting the words together to truly express their feelings.

I love writing poetry, and I think this poem would make a beautiful gift or addition to a card for a couple who is celebrating their 50th anniversary. This 50 wedding anniversary poem says a lot, without saying too much.
